Description

ASHOVER SK3463 BUTTS ROAD 1264-0/11/17 (East side) 08/12/88 Butts House GV II House. Late C17, with mid C18 additions and C19 alterations. Coursed rubble Coal Measures Sandstone, with ashlar dressings. South elevation: east end roughcast. Coped gables with moulded kneelers, one ashlar gable stack, one ashlar ridge stack. Stone slates, Welsh slates, and plain tile. L-plan range, formerly a three-bay cottage, but with added bay at right angles to either range at south end. West elevation one-and-a-half storeys, 3 bays, with a 2-light flush mullioned window to the north end, one light fixed, the other a sash window, both with glazing bars. Above is a square blocked opening with flush surround. Square fixed-light 4-pane window in flush surround to the south and a tripartite window, with a central sliding sash, all with glazing bars. First floor fixed light window to centre, with glazing bars, and above a 2-light flat-roofed dormer with C19 frame. South end, west bay with 3-light chamfered mullioned window within moulded surround, above a tall C19 tripartite casement window. Plain door with massive stone lintel. Added east bay with C18 three-light flush-mullioned window above tall 4-pane sash.
