Description

PARISH OF ECKINGTON LIGHTWOOD LANE (off) SK 38 SE 1/94 Outbuilding to the east of Mansion House Farmhouse II GV Farm outbuilding. C16 with C18 and C19 additions and alterations. Coursed rubble coal measures sandstone, with a corrugated sheet roof covering. South elevation single storey, north elevation single storey with overlofts, being built into a bank. Three plain doorways to each elevation, those to the north giving access to overlofts, those to the south being planked stabled doors, giving access to a full length offshut, now integral with the main structure. Interior contains two massive cruck trusses, with a blade face dimension in excess of two feet at its widest point. Single purlin roof with windbraces, tie and collar beams to crucks, the tie beams carried on into the walls. The ridge is carried on the head of the truss. The offshut to the south side is partially carried on posts notched onto the outer faces of the southern cruck blades, with an intermediate aisle post, now cut, carrying a cambered tie beam which sits on the offshut outer wall plate.
