Description

A stable range and cottage, now houses, dating to the late 17th century, with an addition dated 1722, early 19th-century additions, and late 20th-century alterations. The building is constructed of coursed rubble with ashlar dressings, and has a stone slate roof with a single hipped end and two ridge and two gable stacks. It features quoins and a single coped gable. The building is two storeys high, with a 21-window range arranged as 6:13:2. The main block has thirteen 2-light casement windows with chamfered stone mullions and surrounds. Below these, a pair of elliptical arched carriage openings; the left one has a recessed 20th-century glazed screen, and the right one has a pair of board doors. To the left, three stone cross-mullioned windows are flanked by single chamfered doorways with heavy lintels and label moulds. Above the central window is a coat of arms. To the right, there are two plainer doorways, then two unglazed windows and a similar doorway. To the right again is a former cottage with two 20th-century 3-light casements on each floor. A slightly set-back range features an oval window flanked by single round windows, with a 2-light casement with a chamfered stone mullion beyond. To the left of this, there are two 20th-century square windows. Below, a 2-light stone mullioned window is located to the right, with a small casement to its left, followed by three 20th-century square windows. The rear elevation has several renewed stone mullioned windows. The interior has not been inspected.
