Description
The range of outbuildings to the north of The Birches is a mid-19th century farm structure. It is built from coursed Coal Measures Sandstone with ashlar dressings and has a roof covered in stone slate and corrugated sheeting. The building consists of a six-bay range divided into two sections. The taller three-bay section to the south features a single doorway at the southern end and a double doorway towards the center, which includes stacked taking-in openings and breathers. The lower three-bay section to the north has a chimney with a moulded cap, a ground-floor doorway with a quoined surround and a rectangular fanlight, stacked single-light openings, and a stone stair leading to a first-floor doorway. There is also a full-height doorway to the north at first-floor level. The building is listed for its group value.
