Description

The Old Hall Inn is a public house located in Chapel-en-le-Frith, with parts dating from the 17th century and later additions from the early 19th century. It is constructed from coursed gritstone rubble with quoins and features gritstone dressings. The roof is made of stone slate and has stone ridge stacks.

The building is two storeys high with an irregular plan and consists of three bays. The south elevation features a westward-advanced gabled crosswing that includes a six-light recessed and chamfered mullion window with a central major mullion and leaded lights, topped with a dripmould. To the east, there is a similar window with a smaller major mullion and no dripmould. Further east, there is a quoined doorcase with a large lintel and a glazed 20th-century door. A restored four-light chamfered mullion window and a second doorcase are also found to the east. Above the crosswing, there is a four-light recessed and chamfered mullion window with a dripmould, and to the east, two similar windows without dripmoulds are located in gabled dormers.

Attached to the west of the inn is an early 19th-century double-fronted house, which has a central 20th-century stone porch and bow windows in the original openings on either side, with two similar windows above.
