Description
Deacons Farmhouse is a mid-18th century farmhouse located on the south side of Buxton Road in the parish of Chinley, Buxworth and Brownside. The building is constructed of coursed gritstone rubble with quoins and features gritstone dressings under a stone slate roof. It has four stone stacks that rise from midway up each gable wall.
The farmhouse is two storeys high and has a double front with three bays. The central doorcase has bead moulding around the edge of a flush lintel, with jambs and imposts, and contains a plank door. On either side of the door are three-light flush mullion windows with 20th-century casements. Above the door, there are two similar windows and a single light window.
At the rear, the windows are arranged similarly, except for a central stairwell window. Inside, the farmhouse features ovolo moulded beams and a stone flagged hall with panelling on the east side.
