Description

Slack House Farmhouse and Barn is a farmhouse and barn built as a single entity under a continuous roof in 1762. The building is constructed of coursed gritstone rubble with quoins. Gritstone dressings are present, some of which have been painted. The house has a concrete tile roof, while the barn retains stone slates. There are four stone gable end and ridge stacks.

The south elevation, facing the road, has three bays. An off-centre doorcase features large jambs and lintel, topped with a 19th-century stone slated, wooden, gabled canopy. The studded wooden door leads into the farmhouse. To the west of the door are two three-light flush mullion windows. Another similar window is positioned on the east side of the elevation. A datestone above the door reads 'LIA 1762'. The first floor mirrors the ground floor arrangement with three similar windows. All windows have leaded side lights and small-paned casements.

To the east of the farmhouse is the barn, which features a chamfered, quoined doorcase. A 20th-century three-light flush mullion window is set to the east of the doorcase. Above the barn door is a circular stone opening leading to a hayloft, and a 18th-century three-light flush mullion window sits above the barn door.
