Description
White Hall Gates, Gate Piers and Railings are early 19th-century features located on the north side of Whitehall Terrace in the parish of Chinley, Buxworth and Brownside. The gates and railings are made of gritstone and cast iron. The gate piers are eight feet high and octagonal, topped with moulded, shallow pitched cone shapes. There are also lower, similar piers on the other side of each gate. A low stone wall supports the railings. The double gates curve downwards towards the center and feature dagger head and scroll finials in the central band and at the top. There are similar gates that slope towards the outer piers, and the railings are designed in a similar style. This structure is included for its group value.
