Description
Eccles House is an early 19th-century house located in Chapel-en-le-Frith. It is constructed from rendered stone with raised quoins and features mostly slate roofs, with some areas covered in stone slates. The house has plastered gable ends and ridge stacks, a triple ridge roof at the rear, and a cross roof at the front.
The building is two storeys high and has five bays. On the west elevation, there is an off-centre Doric column porch with a simple entablature. Below this porch is a semi-circular headed doorcase with fan-like tracery in the fanlight. Flanking the glazed and panelled door are inset Doric columns. To the north of the porch, there is a single full-length plain sash window with a flush plaster surround, and three similar windows are located to the south of the porch. Above the southern three windows and the porch, there are four shallower windows of the same style. Similar windows can be found on the other elevations.
Inside, the house features panelled shutters and doors, a stone flagged hall, and some elaborate fireplaces.
