Description
The outbuilding to the west of Riverside House is a stable block and outbuilding dating from the early 19th century, with later alterations and additions. It is constructed of red brick featuring moulded brick dressings and a sawtooth band at the first floor. The roof is made of asbestos sheets, hipped on the southern range, and it has an external brick stack on the south side.
The structure consists of a single-storey, two-bay section to the south and a three-bay, two-storey range to the north. The northern part features a central moulded, painted staircase with a returned hoodmould and a plank door. On either side of the staircase are small pointed, moulded windows, also with returned hoods. Above these are two similar openings and a central circular moulded opening with a raised brick surround. At the top of the gable, there is a smaller similar opening.
Attached to the south, the single-storey section has a blind four-centred moulded archway with a returned hoodmould above and a moulded pointed doorcase at the center. There is a small pointed window on the south side, similar to the others, which has gothick traceried ironwork. A similar window is also present on the south elevation. This building is included for its group value only.
