Description

Grove Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in 1788, originally serving as the manager's house and office for the Stanton Ironworks. The building is constructed from coursed squared gritstone with gritstone dressings and quoins, topped with a plain tile roof featuring coped gables on the north side and brick gable stacks. It stands two storeys high with attics and has a south elevation that consists of three bays.

The central bay features a full-height gabled porch and staircase tower, with an off-centre doorway that has a plank door and two 20th-century windows. To the right, there is a window with a channelled wedge stone lintel and a 20th-century casement, with a similar window above it. Further to the right is a circular window that is set in a blocked doorway. To the left, there is a glazing bar sash window beneath a channelled wedge stone lintel, with a 20th-century casement above it, also beneath a similar lintel.

The north elevation has three bays, with a central doorway flanked by pilasters, which are the remnants of a Tuscan Doric porch, featuring a 19th-century half-glazed door. On each side of the doorway are former tripartite windows under channelled wedge stone lintels, now fitted with 20th-century casements. Above, there are three windows with channelled wedge stone lintels and 20th-century casements, which were originally sashes. The elevation is finished with a low parapet.

Inside, the farmhouse features an open string stick baluster staircase with a ramped handrail.
