Description

The village pump, located on Stanhope Street in Stanton by Dale, was built in 1897 by the Coalbrookdale Company. It is made of cast iron and designed as a square pier. The structure features a base with moulding, panelled sides adorned with an egg and dart motif, a moulded cornice, and an ogee pyramidal top topped with a finial. There is a water outlet facing south and a plinth for a receptacle. To the west, there is a corbel and a drinking fountain. A plaque on the west side reads: "ERECTED/IN/LOYAL/COMMEMORATION/OF/THE/BENEFICENT/REIGN/OF/QUEEN VICTORIA/ JUNE/22nd 1897/THE GIFT OF THE/WOMEN OF STANTON."
