Description

The village cross, located on Stanhope Street in Stanton by Dale, dates back to the medieval period and was completed in 1632. It is made of gritstone and features a square plinth that is approximately 3 feet high. The structure is topped with two steps leading to a pyramidal upper section. The base of the cross is square, and it has a plain shaft, with the top of the cross marked with the date 1632.
