Description
Church Farmhouse is a farmhouse from the mid-18th century, constructed of coursed squared gritstone with gritstone dressings and red brick. It features plain tile roofs with brick ridge and gable stacks, and stone coped gables with plain kneelers. The building is two storeys high.
On the south elevation, there is a tall staircase window in the center, which has a flush square section surround and three transoms, although the top and bottom lights are blocked. To the left, there is a 19th-century casement window beneath a stone lintel, with another 19th-century casement window above it. To the right, a doorway with a stone lintel and chamfered surround leads to a 20th-century door and an open wooden porch. A 20th-century window with a stone lintel is also to the right, and above it is a 2-light 18th-century window featuring a square section flush mullion and surround.
Attached to the southeast is a lower, 19th-century brick and stone range. The ground floor of this range includes two 20th-century casements and a doorway with a lean-to porch, with one 19th-century casement window above. To the west, there is a lower range of outbuildings that has a moulded eaves cornice. The ground floor of this range includes a cart entrance that is partly underbuilt, a doorway with a stone lintel, and a window with a stone lintel. Above, there is a 19th-century casement window that was raised in the 20th century with a flat-roofed dormer.
The east gable end of the house, facing the road, has a 2-light square section flush mullion window on the ground floor, first floor, and attic. Inside, there is an 18th-century staircase around a square well, featuring wavy splat balusters.
