Description
This is a barn with byres located to the southwest of 'The Elms' in Little Eaton, dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of coursed squared gritstone with gritstone dressings and features roofs made of Welsh slate and corrugated asbestos. The building is designed in a T-plan and consists of one and two storeys.
On the east elevation, there are three bays on the right side that are single storeyed, featuring three doorways with stable-type doors set under stone lintels, along with three casement windows. To the left, there is a taller three-gabled range. The right-hand bay includes a cantilevered stone stair leading to an upper doorway, which has massive quoins and a lintel, with a casement window below. An elliptical-arched cartway passes through the building on the left side. The third gable has a later single-storey lean-to attached to the east.
To the west, there is a projecting wing that has four elliptical-arched cart entrances on the south side, most of which have later infill. Inside, the barn contains large stone feeding pens and troughs.
