Description

Wellfield Cottage is a dated 1667 farmhouse. Constructed of coursed stone rubble, it features a plain road elevation with a lower, advanced gabled wing positioned centrally. The left-hand gable terminates with a square-headed doorway, its lintel inscribed with initials and bearing the date, above which is a single-light window set in a plain chamfered reveal. The corresponding gable has a similar single-light window. The south side of the cottage displays two three-light mullioned windows, also in chamfered reveals. The roof is slate covered, with older stone tiles visible on the gabled wing. The building has plain eaves. At the time of survey, the cottage was unoccupied and dilapidated.
