Description
St Andrew's House is a mid-18th century stone building located in Matlock. It stands three storeys tall with an attic and features five sash windows, most of which have glazing bars and are set in moulded architraves. The central window is topped with a cornice hood. The entrance is framed by a moulded pilaster doorcase that includes an entablature and cornice, with quoins on either side. The building has four later box dormers and parapeted gables that are supported by kneelers and stone stacks. The eaves are moulded, and the roof is covered with slates. A rainwater head on the building bears initials and the date 1757. St Andrew's House, along with Matlock Hill and the former Malt House of Matlock Hill, forms a group of historically significant structures.
