Description
Clifton House, now divided into two residences, dates from the early 19th century. The building is cement rendered and features plain tile roofs with two ridge stacks and two gable end stacks. It has two and three storeys, with the north elevation comprising five bays and a gabled bay at each end. The central doorway is framed by a Tuscan columned porch and includes a half-glazed door with sidelights. On either side of the doorway are canted bay windows fitted with glazing bar sashes and topped with iron railings. To the right, there is an additional glazing bar sash, while to the left, there is a doorway and another glazing bar sash, which is now accompanied by a late 19th-century conservatory. The first floor features three glazing bar sashes, and between them are French windows that open onto balconies above the canted bays, adorned with applied lattice work and pilaster framework. The top floor has a central glazing bar sash, flanked by two six-pane sashes on each side. The lower gabled bays on the left and right each contain a casement window on every floor. The property is enclosed by a garden wall and railings along the road.
