Description
This is a mile post located south of Buckholme, dating from 1834 and created by James Bassett. It is made of cast iron and features a cylindrical upper section with a curved top, which sits on a narrower cylindrical stem. The upper part is inscribed with "LEEK/14/MILES/ASHBN/1/MILE," while the top edge reads "JAMES BASSETT ASHBOURNE 1834." Additionally, there is a vertical inscription on the stem that states "LONDON 140 MILES." The grid reference for this mile post is NGR 166 458.
