Description
1 Coldwell Street is a late 18th-century building located on the north side of Coldwell Street, adjacent to the Red Lion Hotel in the Market Place. The building is constructed of red brick and features three storeys with three sash windows set in lightly moulded architraves. The left-hand window is a three-light wood mullioned window. The entrance has a plain wood doorcase and architrave with a keyblock, and there are false quoins on the right-hand side. A moulded stone cornice and a parapet complete the upper part of the façade. Access to the building is via steps that are flanked by wrought iron railings and a low wall made of ashlar, which was previously topped with railings. No 1, The Vaults, and the Red Lion Hotel together form a group of buildings of special architectural interest.
