Description
No 15 Market Place is a building from the mid-18th century, constructed in ashlar stone. It stands three storeys tall and features five sash windows with moulded architraves, although the lower windows have been restored. The entrance has a moulded stone pilaster doorcase with a pediment, and the building is accented by quoins, a moulded cornice, and a restored parapet.
To the left, there is a wing dating from around 1760, which is slightly later than the main structure. This wing is made of red brick with stone dressings and has two storeys. It includes a Venetian window both above and below, with plain stone pilasters on either side that support a moulded eaves cornice and an inset open pediment. The facade of this wing is imposing but in a state of significant disrepair. Inside, the building contains 18th-century panelling.
No 15, along with Nos 4 to 13 Market Place, forms a group of buildings of historical significance.
