Description
Cubley Lodge House is a farmhouse built in the mid-18th century, with a 19th-century addition in a similar style, along with various later alterations and additions. The building is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, featuring gauged brick and stone dressings. It has a plain tile roof with brick gable stacks, one of which is external to the north, and brick coped gables with stone kneelers. The rear gable retains its original moulded stone copings.
The main facade includes a low plinth, brick bands at the first and second floors, a dentilled eaves cornice, and hipped attic dormers above. The house is two storeys plus attics, comprising two bays and a single bay from the later addition. The central doorcase features a stone keystone set in a cambered gauged brick head above a 20th-century glazed door with a divided overlight. On either side of the door, there are three-light wooden cross casement windows under cambered gauged brick heads with stone keystones. A similar window is found in the recessed later addition to the south, also with three-light glazing bar casements. Above this, there are three similar windows arranged in the same manner, and above again, the two attic dormers have two-pane casements.
The west gable wall features a tall segment-headed staircase window that extends through two floors. The rear elevation has 19th and 20th-century additions. Inside, there is a fine dogleg barley sugar balustered staircase.
