Description

This is a milepost located adjacent to 413 Nottingham Road in Somercotes, dating from the early 19th century. It is made of cast iron and features a triangular section base with a sloping head. The edge has a bead fillet, and the lettering is raised. The west side of the milepost is inscribed with 'NOTTM 14 MILES', the east side has 'ALFRN 2 MILES', and the top is inscribed with 'ALFRETON PARISH'.
