Description

The stable block, trough, and mounting block located to the west of Chase Cliffe Farm were built around 1870. The structure is made of regularly coursed rubble gristone with ashlar dressings. It features a chamfered eaves band, coped gables with moulded kneelers, a single intermediate ridge stone stack, and stone slated roofs. The building is arranged in a 'U' shape, enclosing a cobbled courtyard.

The central range is a single storey and includes overlofts, with advanced single storey ranges at either end. The central range has two carriage openings with quoined surrounds and segmental arched heads. There is also a 2-light chamfer mullioned window with cast iron diamond latticed frames beneath a dripmould, and a segmental arched doorway at the south-west end, which has a keystone and an inscribed tablet above it.

Above the overlofts, there are three gabled dormers; the outer ones contain cast iron diamond latticed lights, while the central one is shuttered. A chamfered eaves band extends over the windows, serving as a hoodmould. The single storey range to the south-west features two depressed arched doorways and three single light openings that match the dormer lights. The range to the north-east has a single carriage entrance that matches those of the main range, with diagonally boarded doors, and two rectangular eaves windows with pivot lights. In the center of the courtyard, there is a semi-circular trough, and a mounting block is situated in the south-west corner of the yard.
