Description

Thurlowbooth Cottages is a stepped terrace of eight cottages, now arranged as four with two cottages on each step, built in the late 19th century. The cottages are constructed from coursed gritstone blocks with ashlar dressings, featuring end and intermediate ridge chimneys and roofs covered with Welsh slates. Originally, each cottage was a single bay, two-storey unit, characterized by stacked two-light flush mullioned windows and a flanking doorway with a massive surround and a planked door. Some cottages have been combined into two-bay units, and two doorways have been blocked to create additional window openings.
