Description

The Tramway Bridge is a Grade II listed structure built around 1841. It is a single arch bridge made of coursed gritstone blocks, featuring a prominently projecting roll moulding at the top of a stilted semi-circular archway. Above the arch, there is a low parapet constructed from massive gritstone blocks with channelled faces. The bridge has sloped curved abutment walls at both ends, topped with flat copings. This bridge was part of the Crich tramroad, which was built by George Stephenson in 1841 to connect the Crich quarry with lime kilns at Ambergate.
