Description
Crich Baptist Chapel is a Baptist chapel built in 1877. It features a combination of ashlar and coursed rubble gritstone with quoins, a pediment at the center of the main facade, a coped gable, and a roof covered with Staffordshire Blue Tile.
The building is two storeys high and consists of three bays. It has semi-circular headed windows with curved hoodmoulds that have moulded stops, and cast iron frames set within quoined surrounds. The central first-floor window is a three-light design with semi-circular heads and intersecting tracery at the top. Below this, the central doorway has a quoined surround and a moulded semi-circular arch that springs from short circular columns with foliage capitals. The doorway recess has been altered with 20th-century brickwork and glazed doors.
A broad ashlar band separates the two floors, marked by moulded strings. In the center, there is a moulded roundel dated 1877, flanked by inscriptions. The chapel also features an ashlar frieze, cornice, and a modillioned pediment, with the door face and arch recess at the apex.
