Description

The former stable block, dating from the 19th century, is an L-shaped lofted structure that includes a coach house, stables, and accommodation. It is built of brick, with the front white-washed and featuring dentilled eaves. The roof is slate, hipped at the north end and southwest angle, with raised stone copings on the east gable end. There are two lateral brick stacks located at the rear of each range. The openings have segmental brick heads.

On the east-facing range, there are two boarded doors on the right, with the far right door being narrower and likely leading to a former tack room. To the left, there is a two-light wooden casement window with a chamfered brick sill. The loft has a round pitching eye in the center with wooden glazing. The north-facing range features a narrow bay on the right, which is set forward at the angle of the two ranges, and includes a split door and an oval pitching eye for the loft. To the left, there is a wide entrance to the coach bay under a segmental brick head, now fitted with a steel garage door, while the loft has a two-light casement window with quarries. The north end has a wooden sliding sash window offset to the left at loft level. The south rear wall has a small sash window to the left of the lateral stack and a shallow breeze block lean-to with a window to the right.

This outbuilding forms the southwest corner of a courtyard, with the vicarage located on the east side. They are connected by tall brick boundary walls topped with flat stone copings. There are double boarded gates on the north side and a boarded door on the south side under a segmental brick head, which has a buttress on the internal side. A further similar boundary wall extends west from the southwest corner of the outbuilding and includes a doorway with a stone lintel.

Inside, the north-facing doorway in the angle of the ranges leads into the stables, which contain three stalls with original wooden partitions and mangers. There was previously accommodation above the coach house. The east-facing range has a room featuring a Victorian-style fireplace with a mantelpiece, plain joists on the ceiling, and a quarry tile floor.
