Description
The lychgate at the Church of St Mark is a Grade II listed structure. It features side walls and front piers made of snecked yellow sandstone with chamfered stone copings, which support a timber-framed superstructure with pegged timbers. The roof is swept gabled, covered with slate, and topped with a crucifix. Each side wall has a tier of open box panels just below the eaves. The front gable includes a cambered decorated tie-beam adorned with rosettes, which is supported by curved braces, with vertical struts and a collar above. The central panel of the front gable displays a decorative quatrefoil. The rear gable has a simpler cambered tie-beam with vertical struts above. Inside, there are four narrow collar trusses supporting the roof structure. On the eastern wall's interior side, there is an inscription that reads: 'In memory of Rev. Thomas Williams, Vicar, 1909-1917'.
