Description
The former barn at Old Quay House Inn is a symmetrical, three-bay lofted structure built from coursed blocks of yellow sandstone and topped with an old slate roof. It features dressed sandstone quoins, moulded kneelers, and raised stone copings. The wide central entrance has an elliptical-arched head made of dressed sandstone, flanked by circular pitching eyes for the loft, each set within a square ashlar panel. There are ventilation slits above the entrance and on each side. The north gable end includes a boarded door to the left beneath a wedge lintel, while the south gable end has no openings. The rear of the building has an opposing elliptical-arched opening leading to a through-passage, with two additional openings to the right, although their details were not seen. The loft has two added timber dormers, likely from the late 20th century, along with a skylight. The interior was not observed during the survey.
