Description

The 'L' shaped range of former outbuildings, now converted into dwellings, is located to the north-east of Lea Hurst and dates from the early 19th century. Constructed from coursed rubble gritstone with ashlar dressings, the building features coped gables, two ashlar intermediate ridge stacks, and a concrete tiled roof. The main range consists of five bays and is two storeys high, showcasing triple segmental pointed blind arches at the center, with the outer arches containing inserted three-light flush mullioned windows.

At the north-west end, there are recessed chamfer mullioned two-light windows on both the first and ground floors, accompanied by a two-light overlight above a moulded door surround that features a 20th-century half-glazed door. A blocked doorway has been converted into a two-light casement window to the south-east of the original doorway. The upper floor includes a wheel window at the center within a flush surround, alongside two and three-light flush mullioned windows.

The north-west range has a chamfered cross window above a quoined doorway, which has been blocked to create a window, and a two-light chamfer mullioned window to the south-west. A central wheel window is also present in a flush surround. The building has undergone substantial alterations in the 20th century to facilitate its conversion into dwellings, resulting in many new openings. It is listed for its group value.
