Description
Trinity Methodist Church is a nonconformist church built in 1852. It is constructed from regularly coursed gritstone blocks and features coped gables, moulded kneelers, a single ashlar gable stack, crucifix finials, and a slated roof. A sidewall tower rises from a central entrance porch. The church has a double pile plan with a projecting crosswing at the center of the rear pile and an attached range at the east end of the main range.
The east elevation includes a three-bay main range with tall pointed windows in the end bays. The side wall tower, which incorporates an entrance porch in the center bay, has three stages with chamfered bands marking the junctions of the tower stages. The tower is topped with a pyramidal cap above a coved eaves band at the head of pointed arched tower lights. There is a lower two-bay range to the north, also featuring tall pointed windows. An inscription above the entrance reads "I C S 1852."
Inside, the church retains a narrow gallery at the east end and raised seating associated with the organ and the pulpit located at the south end of the projecting crosswing.
