Description

Westcott is a cottage that likely dates back to the late 16th century but has undergone significant alterations since then. It is constructed from thinly coursed rubble and features a stone tiled roof. The building has two storeys and a two-unit plan, with a central doorway. To the left of the doorway is a three-light casement window with fixed upper lights and gothic glazing bars. On the right, there is a blocked window and a blocked doorway, which now contain a two-light casement window with a chamfered stone architrave and a timber lintel. A graffito date of 1704 is visible on the quoin. Additionally, there is a small blocked fire window with a chamfered stone surround to the right. The upper windows are two-light casements with fixed upper lights, and the right-hand window features some rough quoins.

The right-hand gable is believed to be the oldest part of the house, along with the facade. It includes a single light window with a chamfered timber lintel on the ground floor, and above it are two two-light stone mullion windows with flat chamfers. The rear outshut is an addition to this gable wall, though it is built in the same style as the right-hand gable. The right-hand gable wall has quoins and casement windows with chamfered timber lintels, and it is likely from the early 18th century. There is also a gable end stack.
