Description
No 2 is a house located on Main Street, dating from the mid to late 18th century, with alterations made in the mid 19th century and 20th century. The building is constructed from coursed ironstone rubble, with the front covered in roughcast and colourwashed. It features a slate roof, which was originally thatched, and has coped gables, moulded kneelers, and flanking brick chimneys. The house is two storeys high and has four irregular bays. The 19th-century sash windows have moulded frames. The second bay includes an ashlar porch, likely from the same period, featuring a chamfered four-centred arch, a moulded string, and a small parapet. The door and wooden reveals are adorned with shaped panels and roundels that have reeded ornament. To the right, there is a single storey extension that was formerly an outbuilding, which has two single lights and a blocked doorway. Additional outbuildings are attached at an angle to the rear left. The building is included for its group value.
