Description
The Vicarage is a house, now used as a vicarage, built around 1840-1850. It is constructed of dressed ironstone with pale limestone quoins, bonded jambs, flush band courses, and sill strings. The roof is made of Welsh slate with stone gable copings and flanking ashlar chimneys. The building has three storeys and three bays, featuring marginally glazed sashes that are narrower in the central bay. The central entrance has a six-panelled door with intersecting glazing bars above it in a semi-circular fanlight, and there is a 20th-century glazed gabled porch. Attached to the left is a garden wall with a lean-to greenhouse that abuts the house. No. 3 Main Street, which is attached to the rear, is a late 19th-century building and is not of special interest. The Vicarage is noted for its high quality of masonry and original detail.
