Description
No 2 Church Lane is a house dating from the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed of ashlar, primarily using orange-brown Lyddington stone, with brown Uppingham stone bands, quoins, and window heads. The building features a pale limestone plinth and a flush band at the first floor. The thatched roof has stone gable copings and flanking panelled ashlar chimneys, each with a small lozenge in the center of the panel. The house is two storeys high and has three bays. The windows are 1950s wooden casements with horizontal glazing bars, consisting of two lights on the first floor and three lights on the ground floor, which flank a central 20th-century door. The ground floor openings have cambered heads with moulded keyblocks, while the upper windows have lintels with segmental arched soffits. There is a single-storey 20th-century brick wing at an angle to the rear, and the interior has been altered.
