8/62 Principal barn and - attached farm building to west, approx. 10 metres north of Maltkiln Farmhouse

GV II

Barn and attached farm building. Late C18. Coursed squared stone with quoins. Stone slate roof. 5 internal bays. Central segmental-headed cart entrances with a stepped reveal. Part-blocked entrance to right. Ventilation slits. Gable copings on moulded kneelers. Stone stairs lead to the later 1st-floor entrance of the attached lower building to left. Small single-storey addition to front left not of special interest. Quoined entrance to left return (blocked). At rear both buildings have a segmental- headed cart-entry. Interior of barn: 4 king-post trusses. 2-purl in roof pitches, diagonally-set ridge, wall plates. Some diagonal bracing possibly later.
