Description
SE30NE BARNSLEY CROSS STREET (west side) 4/21 Monk Bretton Farmbuildings approx 6.2.52 20 metres to north of Manor Farmhouse (formerly listed under The Manor House with barns and outbuildings to the North and South) GV II Barn and attached buildings. Late C18, altered. Coursed rubble, welsh slate roof. 6 external bays. Quoins. Near-central projecting gabled entrance with large boarded doors and wooden lintel. Ventilation slits. Chamfered, gable copings on moulded kneelers. Rear: Opposing cart entry with segmental head and similar doors.
Interior: brick lined. 5 open trusses each with collar.
To the left of the barn is a low cart shed with 3 intact bays formed by square stone pillars on padstones. Pantiled roof. To the right is a low, much altered, range of various builds with a slate roof. The buildings enclose a courtyard at the rear of the farmhouse (q.v.).
