Description

Farm buildings around the yard on the north side of Manor Farm date from the early 19th century. This group includes a barn, stables, and cowsheds arranged on three sides of the yard, with railings on the fourth side. The structures are built of a combination of English garden wall bond brick and weatherboarding, topped with Welsh slate half-hipped roofs.

The barn is located on the north side of the yard and features two large hipped porches with planked doors facing the yard. There were formerly open-fronted lean-to shelters in between the porches. The north side of the barn has two double planked doors and several shuttered loading bays, with a cartshed to the left. The cowshed on the west side is constructed of brick and has a loft above, along with shuttered loading bays and planked segmental doorways. There is a blocked throughway at the south end with a dovecote above, which has been partly converted into a dwelling, and the roof has had 20th-century rooflights inserted.

The east range is partly open-fronted and includes planked doors, leaded casements, and a garage at the south end. The south side of the yard is enclosed by contemporary cast-iron railings with dog bars on brick dwarf walls, and there is a matching gate at the center opposite the rear of Manor Farmhouse.

Inside, the barn features approximately 13 bays with a queen post truss roof supported by jowled main posts and curved bracing. This group of farm buildings is a well-preserved example of early 19th-century agricultural architecture.
