Description

Nos 17 and 17A on Bread Street are two buildings that stand three storeys tall. Both are constructed of painted brick and feature stone flagged roofs. No 17 dates from the early 19th century and has a single bay. It includes gauged flat brick arches above sash windows that have glazing bars and stone cills. The shop front is from the late 19th century. No 17A, built in the 18th century, has a five-bay facade with narrower outer bays that have blank window panels; the left bay leads to a passage. There is a cill band on the first floor and projecting brick cills on the second floor. The original sash windows, which have glazing bars and are set in exposed box frames, sit under segmental gauged brick arches. This building also features a modern shop front.
