Description

26 Bread Street is the rear of No 19 Cross Square, known as The Black Horse public house. It features a striking late 18th century facade of the Wakefield type, although it has undergone significant alterations. The building has three storeys and three wide bays, constructed of red brick with a stone plinth band above a sunk basement. There is a full height central round-arched recess. In the right bay, two original windows remain, showcasing finely gauged brick arches and stone cills, while all other openings have been altered.
