Description

NORTH ELMSALL DONCASTER ROAD SE41SE (west side, off) 9/40 - Coach house approx. 50 metres east of Elmsall Lodge Farmhouse - II Coach house to former Elmsall Lodge; now store. c.1800. Coursed squared sandstone with corrugated asbestos sheet roof. Long rectangular plan. Two storeys and 11 bays; symmetrical east front has plinth, 1st floor sill-band; 5-bay centre breaking forwards slightly has a ground floor arcade of round- headed waggon doorways with raised keystones, wooden double doors, and fanlights with radiating glazing bars (except the 5th, which has full-height doors); the 3-bay outer ranges have smaller round-headed openings; at the left end, a window flanked by 2 doorways (both blocked), and at the right- hand end a doorway flanked by 2 windows; all with similar fanlights. First floor has square 6-pane windows throughout. Hipped roof. Rear has some similar openings, but is partly covered by later farm buildings.
