Description
The coach house, located approximately 50 metres east of Elmsall Lodge Farmhouse, dates from around 1800 and is now used as a store. It is constructed from coursed squared sandstone and features a corrugated asbestos sheet roof. The building has a long rectangular plan, standing two storeys high with 11 bays. The symmetrical east front includes a plinth and a first-floor sill-band. The centre section, which slightly projects forward, has a ground floor arcade with round-headed waggon doorways that feature raised keystones, wooden double doors, and fanlights with radiating glazing bars, except for the fifth doorway, which has full-height doors. The outer three-bay sections on either side have smaller round-headed openings. On the left end, there is a window flanked by two blocked doorways, while the right end has a doorway flanked by two windows, all with similar fanlights. The first floor has square six-pane windows throughout, and the building is topped with a hipped roof. The rear of the coach house has some similar openings but is partly obscured by later farm buildings.
