Description
The Shillito Monument, located next to the south-east corner of the south aisle of the Church of St. Mary, is an early 18th-century monumental slab commemorating Margarit Shillito, the widow of Joseph Shillito, who died in 1720. The monument is made of sandstone and features a grooved surround with a scrolled semicircular band at the head and simple scrolls at the foot. The inscription is elegantly lettered and includes additions for Joseph and Elizabeth, children of John, who died in infancy.
