Description

UPTON DONCASTER ROAD SE41SE (west side) 9/56 Lodge to former Elmsall 9.9.1987 Lodge, with associated gatepiers and railing. - II

Lodge with associated gatepiers and railings. Early C19. Dressed sandstone, slate roof, T-shaped plan under square roof projected over bay. To drive, a canted bay with three 2-centred arched 2-light windows which have Y-tracery; doorway in left return wall of the projection; another doorway in set-back main wall to right of projection. Pyramidal roof of low pitch, with oversailing eaves (supported on a column at right front corner, and a post at other corner); central chimney of 2 octagonal flues. Set of 4 gate piers, square in section with panelled sides surmounted by wreaths; (that on right of main gate damaged and heavily weathered): iron spear railings with spear- headed dog bars; both gates replaced.
