ACKWORTH PONTEFRACT ROAD (west side, off) Coach house on west side of Back Lane to west of Ackworth School

Coach house, now garage. Probably early C19. Coursed squared sandstone, stone slate roof. Rectangular plan, 2 storeys, symmetrical, with 3-bay open arcade at ground floor: basket-arched wagon entrances, the arches springing from square capitals of 2 massive cylindrical piers, and the outer ends of the outer arches dying into short terminal walls; at 1st floor, a square window with plain surround above each outer arch. Gable copings with kneelers. Right-hand (north) gable wall has flight of steps to raised doorway. Interior: not inspected.
