Description
The gazebo and boundary wall of the garden to the west of Sharlston Hall are notable features, with the wall likely dating from the 17th century and the gazebo from the 18th century. The boundary wall is constructed from coursed sandstone blocks and runs approximately 75 meters long on each side, with a rounded corner to the southwest and a height of about 2 meters. There is a doorway in the center of each side, topped with shallow ridged coping.
The gazebo, located in the northwest corner, is a single-storey structure built into the wall and has a basement. It features a raised doorway on the south side that is accessed by a flight of 9 steps parallel to the garden wall, and a low opening to the basement on the east side. The north and west sides of the gazebo are open, supported by a vase-shaped pillar at the northwest corner and square pillars at the other corners. It has a pyramidal roof. At the time of the survey in 1986, the structure was noted to be dilapidated, but remnants of a coved ceiling were still visible inside.
