Description
Japonica House is a house from the late 18th century that has been altered. It is constructed of handmade brown brick and features a stone slate roof. The building has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys high with three bays that are almost symmetrical. There is a moulded band of three courses at the first floor level. The segmental-headed doorway is slightly offset to the right of centre, with two segmental-headed windows at the ground floor and three above. All these openings have gauged brick heads, although the glazing in the centre window of the first floor is altered and appears to be blind or blocked and rendered. The house has gable chimney stacks, with the one on the right being coupled with the chimney of Foulby Lodge, which is attached at that end.
