Description
The cottage and attached outbuildings, located to the south of the Estate Office in the Nostell Priory Estate yard, date from around 1845 and have undergone some 20th-century alterations. They are constructed of dressed sandstone with ashlar dressings and feature stone slate roofs, coped pedimented gables, and two stone stacks. The building is two stories high, with the east front showcasing three windows and a slightly projecting central bay topped by a pediment. The central doorway has a six-panel door with an overlight, flanked by single plain sash windows. Above, there are three similar plain sashes, with the central one being narrower. To the right, there is a single-storey wing behind a high ashlar wall. To the left, an attached single-storey former cartshed includes a single cast iron column, later brick infill, a two-light window, and double carriage doors. Beyond this is the former coach house, which has a broad pedimented front and a single segment-arched doorway with double plank doors. These buildings are part of the estate yard established for Charles W Winn, who lived from 1795 to 1874.
