Description

The farm buildings located to the north-west of the Lodge at Nostell Priory estate yard were originally a coach house, dating from around 1830, with later additions made around 1845. They are constructed from dressed sandstone with ashlar dressings and feature stone slate roofs, coped pedimented gables, and two square ventilators at the roof ridge. The buildings have a plinth, a first-floor band, and a moulded eaves band, and are single storey.

The west front displays the original coach house with three windows, alongside a later five-window wing to the right, arranged in a pattern of 1:1:1:2:1:2. The central bay of both the original and later blocks slightly projects and is topped with pediments. The original coach house includes a central carriage arch that is partially blocked and features triple 2-light casements; to the left is a 12-pane sash window, and to the right is a former window that has been converted into a doorway with a sliding door and overlight, above which are three 6-pane windows. The later block to the right has a central 12-pane window to the left, two doors with overlights, and a single similar door with a 12-pane window beyond. Above this section, there is a central 6-pane window flanked by single loft doors and single 6-pane windows beyond.

On the rear, or east front, there are seven windows with a central doorway for each block. The doorway to the right is blocked and flanked by single windows, while the doorway to the left is also blocked. Above each block, there is a central loft door flanked by single windows, except for the left block, which has two windows to the right of the left block. These buildings are part of the estate yard of Nostell Priory, which was laid out for Charles W Winn, who lived from 1795 to 1974.
