Description

The Old Brewhouse, located on the west side of the entrance to Home Farm, is a building dating from the late 17th century that now serves as a store. It is constructed from coursed dressed sandstone and features a stone slate roof. The building has a rectangular four-bay plan and stands two storeys high. The north front includes a chamfered plinth and a segmental-headed wagon doorway in the third bay, flanked by two narrow single-light windows on the left and one on the right. On the first floor, there are two three-light windows with slightly-recessed chamfered mullions, along with an inserted single-light window to the left. Each gable wall is equipped with a flight of external steps leading to a loft doorway. The rear of the building, which is now close to the estate boundary wall, contains several chamfered mullion windows. The interior has not been inspected.
